SI Cobas declares workers “will oppose any shipping of weapons to Israel which they become aware of”
Dear brothers and sisters from Palestine,
SI Cobas, a rank-and-file union in Italy, which organises mostly immigrant workers, many from Arab countries, is participating in, and organising, marches and events in solidarity with the Palestinian people, against the genocidal attack on Gaza by the Israeli army, against the Italian government’s support to the Zionist government, and for the end of the three generations-old oppression on your people.
We support your appeal to boycott the delivery of weapons to Israel, which would be used against the Palestinian people. According to SIPRI, Italy is the third major supplier of arms to Israel, the main such supplier being the government-controlled Leonardo military group.
Being a major union in the logistic sector, SI Cobas workers will oppose any shipping of weapons to Israel which they become aware of.
We are convinced that a just solution of the Palestinian question will not come from the big powers or the capitalist governments of the region, but can only come from the joint struggle of the workers of the Middle East, all ethnicities and religions included, with the support from the workers of the whole world.
When this united struggle comes, it will be “a lever for the liberation of all dispossessed and exploited people of the world”.
